The Marathon Winter tire uses 240 steel studs for unsurpassed grip on icy roads. The tire features studs on two inner rows and two outer rows providing reliable and constant grip whether the bike is riding straight or leaned over in a corner. It is especially useful on the front wheel where maximum traction is required to avoid a dangerous and painful spill on icy surfaces. Used properly with a studded rear tire it is possible to ride an entire winter season on icy roads and never fall. It is not to be confused with the Schwalbe Winter tire which has 120 studs instead of 240 studs.

• For cost savings you can purchase this tire for use on the front wheel for maximum traction and buy a less expensive Schwalbe Winter tire with 120 studs for the back wheel. The rear wheel does not require as much traction as the front wheel to avoid a potential fall on the ice
