Randy Merrell designed and hand fabricated hiking boots for a small group of outdoor enthusiasts. In 1981, he decided to join forces with Clark Matis and John Schweizer, two former ski industry administrators looking to spread their wings. Combining their respective talents, they developed a high-performance hiking boot at an affordable price.
