Labour ethics expected from suppliers dealing with La Cordée Plein Air Inc.

As a retail business, La Cordée has developed itself through the promotion of strict ethical and integrity values.

As production of outdoor equipment and clothing is becoming more and more a global business, we believe in the need to, more than ever, apply strict rules to guarantee that the products we offer are made in the right labour conditions.

When accepting a purchase order form La Cordée, a supplier certifies it meets the fundamental principles and rights of labour as specified in the June 1998 International Labour Organization Declaration, ILO. The supplier also gives La Cordée or its representative the right to verify, at any time, if it conforms to the declaration.

La Cordée will not sell products coming out of countries that have not ratified the ILO Declaration.

La Cordée will only buy from a supplier who abides by the Declaration and who has subcontractors that also do.

When deciding to sell its products to La Cordée, a supplier agrees to:

  • Recognize the right for collective labour movement of its workers;
  • Eliminate all forms of forced or compulsory labour;
  • Abolish all forms of work affecting the development or education of children and to respect the minimum working age as specified by the ILO;
  • Eliminate all forms of discrimination at work based on gender, language, race, skin colour, ethnic or social origin, religion, political preference, physical handicaps or age.

We understand that work often generates the development of the economy in emerging countries and that variances do exist among working conditions in various areas of the world. We believe it is important to guarantee that products being sold at La Cordée are manufactured in conditions that promote equity, progress and social justice.
